Therapy vs. Recovery Coaching
What is the Difference Between Therapy and Recovery Coaching with Eating Disorders?
In therapy, individuals may explore the "why" of their eating disorder by understanding the connection of past traumas and emotional difficulties to their current struggles with eating. Although sometimes more, therapy is typically one hour a week and may involve diagnoses of clinical disorders.
In recovery coaching, the focus is on the "here and now." The coach and client determine the number of weekly sessions based on the needed level of support. Coaching also involves daily support through texting. A recovery coach does not diagnose clinical disorders.
